Johnny Weir

Johnny (John Garvin Weir) is born on July 2, 1984, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. He is an American figure skater, recording artist, author, tv star, movie star and yet, he can still surprise us! Three-time U.S. National Champion (2004–2006), the 2008 Worlds bronze medalist, a two-time Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, and the 2001 World Junior Champion. He also competed twice at the Olympics (Turin, 2006 and Vancouver, 2010).

Johnny, a former horseback rider, began to skate at the late age of 12 on a frozen cornfield behind his house. After his Mom offered him skating lessons, he began to imitate his biggest idol of the moment: Oksana Baiul. He pops an axel after two hours of practise and the instructor brings him to his former coach: Priscilla Hill.

Not able to afford figure skating and horseback riding, his mother asked him to choose his path. It had to be figure skating. First competing with Jodi Rudden in pairs, he quickly followed his own dream and started to skate in single.

Johnny mostly worked with Priscilla Hill before receiving some lessons from Tatiana Tarasova. Then, he separated from his coach and began to work with Galina Zmievskaya, Viktor & Nina Petrenko.

Besides of his skating career, he recently published a book "Welcome to my World". He also recorded a song called "Dirty Love".

Johnny is SO beautiful. I think from inside too. I just love him.

My mam adores him,she says that Johnny is more beautiful than Stephane!!! Can you imagine?Yes,she says:"Johnny has more harmonious features".I don't know what to say!

My Mom doesn't understand why I love him. She does not want to hear about him, though I try to show her pictures and say "Look how he loves fashion!" (because we love clothes) or "He's got such a define bone-structure". Nothing is enough apparently. For her, a boy is tall, strong, not interested in anything than cars, sex and soccer. Her perfect boy would be Evan, for example (I *love* Evan as much as I love Johnny, so it's not a criticism against him).

But Johnny is something else. I always have this maternal feeling when I look at him, I want to protect him, be sure he's okay and happy and safe. I'd punch in the face anyone who'd hurt him or disrespect him. It's pratically not possible to not fall in love with his style, skating and beautiful soul. He's such a kind hearted man.

Some people (like us!) adore him, some people detest him, and for some he is beyond comprehension. The same thing is to be said about many of the world's great artists. For some of them it even took entirely different generation to come to appreciate their works. And this means they had something strong to say and express... like Johnny. He definitely belongs to one of the greats!.

Johnny is something SO spesially and different, lovely!
